Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations to our students who participated in the Western Region Cross Country last Friday. I have been told from different sources that our students were well behaved, used beautiful manners and showed great sportsmanship! I am so proud of our students for showing pride in representing our school. Special congratulations to Toby, Lauren and Nate who were successful in their races and will now represent the Western Region in the Archdiocesan Cross Country at Mt Stromlo in Canberra.
Mothers’ Day
It was so lovely to see many mothers and grandmothers come along for the Mothers’ Day Mass, morning tea and open classrooms. Thank you to Fr Namora and Miss Braun for preparing the Mass. Congratulations to each of the students who read.
I know the students were very excited to show off the wonderful work they have been doing in class. Hopefully we can open classrooms again later in the year as it is important to provide opportunities to the parents to be involved in their child’s learning.
NAPLAN
Year 3 and Year 5 students will be participating in the annual NAPLAN testing next week from Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th May. These tests are a snap shot of the students’ learning and assist teachers to identify any gaps and address them in the classroom. It also provides a good indication of where our students are academically placed in relation to other students locally, within the diocese and nationally.
Pupil Free Days
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter there will be two additional pupil free days this term, Friday 10th June and Friday 1st July. This may be difficult for some families. Please let me know if you can’t make other arrangements for the care of your children on these two days.
Sport Representation
I wish Toby and Sam all the very best of luck as they participate in the MacKillop selections for Rugby League in the under 12's and under 11's teams. I hope they enjoy the experience!
Snowy Valley Sculpture Trails
Years 2 – 6 had a wonderful time yesterday learning how to bend and mold wire into life like trees. The Snowy Valley Sculpture group took time out of their schedule to work with our students and teach them new skills. I hope our students continue to use this new talent and create some different wire sculptures!
Covid
This week 3 school community members have tested positive for Covid. If your child is experiencing Covid like symptoms please keep them at home and use a RATS to determine if they are positive. We have good supply of RATS at school, so do not hesitate to call and ask for them if they are needed.
Online Family Event
Further on in the newsletter there is link to an online forum that will provide an opportunity for parents and carers to discover some practical ways to get engaged in your child’s education. This event is:
- Jointly hosted by CECG and CSPACG
- Aims is to promote the Council and develop parents/carers understanding that they are part of a system that provides a variety of ways to support them.
- Includes presentations from CSPACG, Wellbeing & Diversity, Teaching & Learning and Youth Ministry
Families are able to register via the link and a recording will be sent to those who are registered.
God bless,
Katrina McGrath
