Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with sadness and joy that I write the last newsletter for Term 2. I am sad to be leaving St Joseph’s as it has been wonderful getting to know the staff, the students and their families. But as you know I have missed my family and being at home, so I am happy to be returning to Boorowa and have quality time with my family. I am looking forward to being kept busy babysitting my grandchildren!
Winter Break
It is wonderful that the students have a couple of extra days added to the winter holidays. It will give them (and their parents) a much needed rest and break from routine. Hopefully this will see all the lingering coughs and sniffles cleared up and the students will be ready to return healthy and well for Term 3.
New Principal
The new Principal Mr Ryan Forsyth visited yesterday for a handover and to meet the staff and students. Ryan comes to Adelong with a wealth of experience in both large and small schools and is excited about this opportunity to be a part of the St Joseph’s Adelong community. He understands the small school context and is looking forward to meeting parents, families and the wider community.
Term 3
Term Three will begin on Monday 18th July for staff, who will be participating in professional learning. They will be engaging in online learning about Catalyst which will have a positive impact on the teaching and learning in our classrooms. Students will begin on Tuesday 19th July.
Farewell
Sadly one of our families has had to leave Adelong due to housing demands. We bid farewell to Ashley Barry and her children Skyla and Isabella, who had their last day yesterday. We wish them every success and happiness in their new school.
Thankyou and Goodbye
Once again can I say thank you to the students, staff and parents who have supported me and made me feel so welcome at St Joseph’s Adelong. I was looking forward to retirement before coming here but I am so grateful that I had one last experience in such a beautiful school and community. It was evident from my first day that this place is special. There is such a strong sense that staff and parents are working together to provide the best education possible for the students. You are very blessed and I will keep you all in my prayers.
My thanks also to Angela and Matt Pearce and Marlene and Kerry Pearce who have provided such wonderful accommodation for my tenure at Adelong. I was very keen to live in the town and they have made sure that I have been very comfortable and well looked after.
I hope and pray that Kirsty’s treatment is successful, that she recovers good health and returns to St Joseph’s School in 2023. I know she misses being here every day!
Have a lovely holiday,
Katrina McGrath
