Principal's Report

At the end of Week 6 we held our Athletics carnival on a cold and Wintery Friday! A big congratulations to all of the students who gave it their all, despite the cold weather. We were fortunate enough to have some McAuley helpers on the day – Matilda, Ella, Lilly, Olivia, and Lucas. The students were so encouraging and when some of our students were struggling it was so wonderful to see them cheer them on and even run with them. We really appreciate your assistance on the day. Thank you to our wonderful parents who also lent a hand time keeping on the day. A big thank you also to our Community Council who put on the meal deal for students. They also were out in the cold for most of the morning making sure little people were fed! The Western Region Athletics carnival will be held this Friday in Young – the Compass event was sent out last week.

1/2 are very lucky to have Miss Eliza Roberts from ACU with them for a prac. Eliza started teaching the students last week and we know they are enjoying having you at St Joseph’s.

Last week I was in Canberra for our Western Region Principals meeting and a day of input from Catholic Education staff. It was also a privilege to attend a Mass in honour of Tim Smith who after nearly 40 years of working in Catholic Education is retiring.  There was a farewell function after Mass and this week Tim will visit St Joseph’s for the last time. Ms Philippa Brealey will replace Tim as my School Performance and Development Leader at the beginning of Term 3. Tim has been a wonderful support for me in my role as Principal for many years, and was also instrumental in assisting me with the many processes involved with the construction of the new building. I sincerely thank him for his years of support of St Joseph’s Adelong.

Reports will go out to parents on Compass at the end of Week 9. Parent teacher interviews will then take place in Week 10. I strongly encourage all parents to utilise this opportunity to touch base with your childs teacher. It is important to discuss their progress, areas for further development and find out ways that you can assist and support your childs learning at home.

Blessings for a great week,

Kirsty Beavan
