“Lent is the season in which we prepare for the mystery of Easter. It is a special time of forty days in which we joyfully embrace a conversion of heart. A new heart and a new spirit, these are God’s gifts in Lent. The Lenten call we hear from the first day is ‘Repent and believe the Good News!’
During Lent we focus on fasting, giving to the poor, and prayer. Lent is a time of self discipline, generous concern for those in need and prayerful reflection. Lenten penance is not only inward and spiritual but outward and social in character”. (Taken from ‘We Pray As One 2020’).
At morning assembly the Year 6 students read out a Lenten Intention. These intentions focus on ways that we can show care, compassion and kindness to one another during the school day through both words and actions. The intentions are on display in the school entrance to guide both staff and students during the season of Lent.
