Welcome to our first online newsletter. Thank you for your patience as we go through the process of changing to the new schoolzine newsletter. We will trial for term one fortnightly newsletters.
The first three weeks of term have been extremely busy and all of the children have settled into 2019 beautifully.
It was wonderful to celebrate our Opening school mass on Tuesday where we presented our school leaders with their badges and also officially welcomed our new Kindergarten students. We welcome the Bamblett (Braxton), Brown (Mitchell), Corbett (Ollie) and Pearce (Ted) families to St Joseph’s in 2019. We know that you will embrace our school community and we are so pleased that you are with us.
The theme this year for St Joseph’s is based around the concept of challenge and a lovely piece of scripture re-enforces what our focus is
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13
As an LNAP (Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan) school St Joseph’s will have the privilege of working with Challenging Learning over the next two years, which is an international consultancy team who work with schools and systems to significantly strengthen student learning. Challenging both staff and students to step outside their comfort zone leads to significant growth and development. We are excited to be involved with the Challenging learning team.
Communication between home and school is of the upmost importance in order for things to run smoothly. There are many legal requirements placed on schools that we must ensure are in place. Absentee notes, permission notes, medical records all need to be correct and school must keep a copy of these. A gentle reminder that you have seven school days to notify the school of any absence your child has had. This can be done via email, phone or written note. Medical records need to be updated every 12 months and school needs to have a copy of any medical conditions that your child may have.
I look forward to another great year and working with our great school community.
Kind Regards
Kirsty Beavan
School Fees
School fees went out last week. Fees are due by Week 7 unless on a direct debit. Please see Mrs Beavan if you wish to discuss payment of your fees.
Address/Emergency Contact
Last week students received details of their emergency contacts and home addresses. These need to be returned signed even if they do not have any changes on them.
Asthma Action Plan
If your child has a Asthma Action Plan supplied from your doctor or your child carries an Asthma (Ventolin) puffer we are required to have a plan on file. Please complete the following Asthma Action Plan and return to school as soon as possible. If you require a hard copy of the plan please email the office and we can send one home.
Rosters
Rosters for Friday canteen and grounds roster went out last week. We also sent out a copy of the Monday Canteen Menu. If you did not receive any of the rosters, please contact the school for us to send one home. This year we have changed the grounds roster and ask that you notify the school or next family inline to mow.

Welcome to our new Kinders Henry, Mitchell, Braxton, Ollie, Alice and Primrose and their families. Kindergarten rest days are Wednesday 20th and 27th February.
Our swimming carnival was a huge success and we thank parents for coming along to support and help out at the carnival. Western Region will be held in Tumut tomorrow, we wish all our students competing all the best.
This week we were very lucky to have a visit from Courtney - NRL Liason staff who shared a great clinic with the students.
The clinics are designed to help students understand the link between team work and support for one another and how that correlates with supporting and being there for our friends in the classroom and when interacting online to remain cyber safe.
Thank you to all our families for joining us for this year's Opening School Mass. It was lovely to welcome our new Kindergarten students and present badges to our new school leaders.
