- Lanterns on the Lagoon
A short week this week with the long weekend on Monday. I hope that everyone enjoyed the extra long break. Staff have been busy with Professional learning again over the last two weeks with Numeracy visits from Chris Higgins and Matt Sexton, Data Analyst days and Instructional Leadership workshops and Challenging Learning workshops.
It is a busy time for teachers who are writing individual reports. Reports will be sent home on Friday 28th June and the following week we will have Parent teacher interviews. A note will go out next week regarding times with the main day for interviews being Tuesday 2nd July.
A friendly reminder to return permission notes for the Western Region Athletics Carnival that will be held in Cootamundra on Friday 28 June, 2019. If notes could be returned by tomorrow it would be greatly appreciated.
We are keeping the students who are preparing for their First Communion in our prayers. They will celebrate the sacrament on Sunday 30 June and we look forward to celebrating this special day with them.
Have a great week
Kind Regards
Kirsty Beavan

Woolworths Earn & Learn Program
Woolworths Earn & Learn program is currently running and will end on the 25th June. Please don't forget to collect your stickers and place them in the box at Woolworths or send into school.
Our school greatly appreciates the stickers collected as we receive valuable resources from the program.
Primary students are required to bring their own device to school every day and they are responsible for the device at school. Students need to make sure the devices are charged. We understand there are some children's devices that are broken and they can use the school's devices if necessary.
Today Chris Higgins from CE visited the Primary Class to work on Mathematics. He demonstrated an open ended task that can be used for different age groups. The students were very engaged and enjoyed creating patterns from the problem posed. Thanks for visiting us Chris!!
Our School Games
At school at the moment we have a great game happening in the sand pit. So I went and asked about what was happening there. All seems happy in there but this would make some great entertainment for our parents/ guardians.
“In the sand pit we have dug out some gold mines. We have built a war base and one parliament house. It's a big construction with all the little groups working everywhere. Come play at the sand pit and see all of the activity.” - Charlie MacDougall
Thank you to Charlie for giving us some information.
Congratulations to our Week 6 Students of the Week Preston, Charlie, Mitchell and Lochie, well done boys! Birthday wishes to Ted, Taylani, Taylor and Sydney. Thank you to the classes for presenting their great work and to the parents who came along to join us for Assembly.
Primary Students Experiment in Science
Some great work happening in our Primary class this week during Science. They have been experimenting dissolving salt in water.
Mortimer Shield
Year 5 and Year 6 from St Joseph’s joined with McAuley and St Patricks to participate in Mortimer shield in Tumut. In the first round the McAuley1 girls team won all three games. The McAuley 3 girls team (Isliah and Matilda) who were coached by Miss Braun lost all their games, however they played very well and demonstrated great sportsmanship. The boys who were with St Patrick’s won 1 game, lost 2 games and drew 1 game. A big thank you to the parents that transported u to practice and to the day. A big thank you also to Donna Robson who was a great help on the day.
The McAuley 1 team (Anna, Eliza and Zoe) qualified for finals in Wagga on Tuesday. We lost the first game against South Wagga 2-0. In the second game we played Franklin and we won 4-1. In the quarter final we played Sacred Heart Cootamundra and tied 1 all.
We had a great time and thank you to Lauren Roche who took us to Wagga. Thank you also to McAuley and Miss Cole for letting us participate in such a great day.
