Welcome to Week 10 – in what has felt like a very long term!!! It has certainly been a term full of unpredictability and change. Through all of the challenges I am so pleased with how both staff and students yet again adapted to a different form of learning and that our families were extremely supportive of this change. Whilst we look forward to returning in Term 4 to face to face teaching again, we are aware that circumstances can change quickly and if we find ourselves back in lockdown remote learning will be the mode of learning.
Next term for the first 6 weeks the children will be participating in a Tennis program run by Bernadette Cahill on a Friday. We were successful in obtaining a Sports for schools grant, so there will be no cost to families.
I hope you enjoy the holiday break and enjoy the Spring weather.
Have a wonderful break,
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
It was so lovely to welcome the children back onto the school grounds this week and resume face to face teaching. As we approach the school holidays, it is a time to stop and take the time to reflect on all we have to be grateful for – our families, good health and the beautiful season of spring.
A big thank you to all the families for the support you gave your children to continue their learning across all subject areas. I am especially grateful for the time and enthusiasm that parents committed to Religious Education.
K.1 and their families wrote some beautiful prayers of Thanksgiving during Remote Learning, appreciating God’s wonderful creations. Years 2 and 3, interviewed someone in their family or community and discovered the changes that have occurred over time in household chores, education, games and practices at Mass. The children especially enjoyed looking at some old photos of St James Church with the previous altar and the choir box.
This week 2.3 have been looking at life in Nazareth village in Jesus’ time constructed their own house typical of the time. The children demonstrated a wealth of knowledge and wonderful engineering in their creations. Alice also created a clay masterpiece at home to show the class.
Years 4, 5 & 6 are continuing their investigations into Human Rights. They have been investigating Government actions and looking at Bible stories such as Jesus Heals the Lepers, to discuss the fair treatment of people in a variety of communities.
Sacrament of Reconciliation:
Please keep Laura Reynolds and James Hannan in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Sunday. All families are invited to join with the Parish for 10.00am Mass in St James’ Church.

Beginning Term 4 COMPASS will be our platform for communication, all families this week would have received an email to access the portal.
Compass is where all parents will be able to add attendance notes, communicate with teachers, view calendar for events and much more.
The portal is accessible via the web https://schools.compass.education/ and the Compass School Manager App (via the App store on your device). Once you have downloaded the App, you will need to:
- Search for our school. Type Adelong in the search bar and select St Joseph's School - Adelong.
- You will then be required to type in your username and temporary password which were emailed to families yesterday. Once you are logged in you will be prompted to change your temporary password. (Please contact the office if you need the information resent).
- Once you have changed your password, you’ll be prompted to confirm you contact details. This is to make sure that all Compass communications are sent to the correct email address/phone number.
We have attached information sheets for your to read through if you haven't already logged into the portal. If you have any questions or are having trouble logging in please send an email to the office.stjosephsadelong@cg.catholic.edu.au and we will get back to you.
