Dear Parents and Carers,
As week two draws to a close, I’d like to thank families for their support on a number of fronts. Firstly, in relation to our Covid guidelines, continuing to practise Covid safe measures, keeping kids home if they are unwell and RAT testing when necessary. All of the little extras that are being done to ensure we are looking after each other in our school community is appreciated.
Working Bee
Thank you to our families that contributed to the Working Bee on Saturday. The gardens are looking great and the students are enjoying the freshly spread softfall and sand during play. This community support and engagement is greatly appreciated and doesn’t happen without the organisation and support from our Community Council.
Street Stall
Congratulations to our Year 6 leaders for their participation in last Friday’s Street Stall. It was wonderful to see their engagement with local community members, along with their entrepreneurial skills on show! Thank you to all families that helped at the stall and donated cakes, slices and other goods for the raffle and sales. The food certainly got the tick of approval from my two boys at home!
If you could respond ASAP so the Community Council can make a decision, would be greatly appreciated. Those that help on the day will receive free entry into the festival.
The Winter Bites Link (attached) directs parents to a simple Google Form that will inform the Community Council of the support parents can provide.
On a side note, it has been wonderful to venture into classrooms throughout the week and witness the wonderful connection our students have with all of our staff, to see students positively engaged in their learning and making a concerted effort to engage with our Five Ways of Being program that we will refer to regularly throughout the term.
I hope all families have also enjoyed a positive start to the term.
Enjoy the remainder of the week,
Ryan Forsyth
Acting Principal
What are St Joseph’s learning about in RE this term?
Students in K/1 are investigating what it means to make Godly Choices and how we can do this. Students will identify connections between God’s plan for people to live safely and happily and their personal experience by exploring Jesus’ teachings in The Golden Rule, the Good Samaritan and Jesus Heals a Paralysed Man.
Students in 2/3 are learning how to be a steward of God’s Creation. Students will engage in a variety of Scriptural texts that show Jesus’ love and sacredness of creation. Students will understand our duty to care for God’s gift of creation.
Students in 4/5/6 are learning where we find God in the texts. Students will explore the bible to investigate Scripture texts in the Old Testament such as Genesis, the story of Noah, the early life of Moses to discover what the Old Testament teaches us.

As we move through the term we are reminded of the following guidelines to ensure we minimise the spread of Covid-19 within our school community.
- Continue to remind students of practices that will minimise their chance of spreading and picking up germs (using tissues and disposing of them correctly, washing hands and sanitising where appropriate).
- If your child is unwell or experiencing Covid symptoms, for parents/guardians to keep them at home and ensure they utilise the RAT tests sent home to families on Tuesday. If your family need more, please contact the office.
- If your child tests positive, it is important that this is registered with NSW Health and the school is informed.
- It is recommended that close contacts stay at home where it is practical to do so. If students who are close contacts intend on going to school, it is important they complete a daily RAT each morning to minimise health risks to other members of the school community.
St Joseph's students have created beautiful artwork pieces for the exhibition that will take place from Monday at the "Fiveways" Studio. We encourage our families to go along and have a look at the fantastic range of artwork that the students have created.
