Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 4! It has been wonderful this week to get back into the routine of St Joseph’s and to see the beautiful smiles of students that I have missed so much.
A huge thank you to Katrina McGrath and Ryan Forsyth who held my position in my absence. I am grateful for the wonderful job that they have done and I know that the school was in safe hands. A huge thank you for staff who not only had to step up and take on many extra roles and responsibilities but also for their support of Katrina and Ryan in their roles.
I have loved receiving cards and messages from the children, flowers and beautiful messages from parents and your general support whilst I was away. It was a great source of strength for me and I am extremely appreciative to be part of such a caring and loving school environment.
For those parents and new families that I have not really had the opportunity to meet yet, feel free to pop in and say hello – I am looking forward to meeting you all.
It is a busy time of year with many things happening at St Joseph’s. Many students are participating in the Western Region swimming carnival in Young today – we wish them all the best. The Adelong Show is fast approaching and it would be fantastic if you could spare a couple of hours to help out with the BBQ – if you can pop your name on the google form that has been created that would be fantastic.
Have a lovely week,
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Ash Wednesday
On Wednesday we celebrated Ash Wednesday with a liturgy. It was lovely to have parishioners and parents attend. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, which is 40 days, not counting Sundays, of fasting and repentance prior to the celebration of Easter.
Lent is a time to change, to become a better version of ourselves, and to become more like Jesus. The ashes we receive on Ash Wednesday remind us of our call to repent and believe in the Gospel. The disciplines of Lent—prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—help us prepare for Easter.
St Joseph’s Day
We will celebrate St Joseph’s Day with a liturgy on Monday 20th March at 12:30pm.

Please advise the school where your child/ren's Asthma puffer is kept whilst at school (eg; in front pocket of school bag).
Any child carrying a Ventolin in their bag or may need to be administered a Ventolin need to have an updated plan and a Medication Authorisation form.
Please see attached the Medication Authorisation form to complete if your child/children require this medical option. Please complete and return this form and any updated information as soon as possible to: office.stjosephsadelong@cg.catholic.edu.au
Student Acceptable Use of Computer Facilities and Networks Policy
Every student in Canberra/Goulburn Archdiocese schools signs an acceptable use agreement in order to use technology in their school. The student agreement is for children in Kindergarten to Year Six.
Thank you to all our families who have signed and sent back their Student Acceptable Use Agreement. If you have not yet returned your child/ren's agreement please return as soon as possible.
Following is a link to the policy we would appreciate if all families could read this and familiarise themselves with the policy.
School Fees have been sent through to families via Compass this week. If you have any queries regarding your fees or payments etc., please do not hesitate contacting the office.
Term 1 - Week 8 - Thursday 23rd March.
Students need to wear full summer school uniform.
Envelopes will be sent out next week.
Last week St Joseph's celebrated our Opening School Mass, it was lovely to welcome Father Yoseph to our school community and present our Year 6 students with their leader badges for 2023. We also welcomed our Kindergarten students to St Joseph's. Families were then invited to come along to morning tea on the oval.
The Adelong Show is being held on Saturday 11th March 2023. St Joseph's will be running a food stall from 2pm onwards and we are looking for families to help out on the day.
Our stall will include foods such as a sausage sizzle, slow-cooked meat rolls, coleslaw, drinks, etc.
Set-up will begin at 1.30pm so we can serve from 2pm. We will finish at around 8-9pm, depending on what we still have available to sell.
We encourage all families to lend a hand if possible as this is a great community event and fundraising opportunity for our school.
For those that can't be there on the day there is also opportunity to help out in the lead-up to the show with things like collection of supplies, bread roll preparation (cutting / bagging), etc.
All help is greatly appreciated!
