A lovely Opening School Mass today celebrated by Fr Yoseph. A big thank you to Miss Braun for all the preparation and planning that went into today’s mass and to all students who participated in the mass so reverently. It was a lovely opportunity to officially welcome our Kindergarten and new students to St Josephs and to present our Yr 6 leaders with their badges. It was lovely to see so many parents join us for a cup of tea afterwards.
The first couple of weeks have been very busy indeed with many school events taking place. A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents that assisted with the swimming carnival, your help is always greatly appreciated.
14 students will head off to Western Region swimming in Cootamundra on Thursday and we wish them all the best at representing our school at the carnival. Mrs Campbell will be the teacher attending, so if all students can look for Mrs Campbell at the beginning of the day and get their names marked off the roll.
We will have our first Community Council meeting for the year next week (details are included below). It would be fantastic to see as many people there as possible.
A friendly reminder that school hats need to be worn at all times - please help your child/ren make sure that they pack their school hat every day.
In 2024 St Joseph’s has been lucky enough to again receive funding from the Community Foundation for the Resilience Project for all classes. I was lucky enough to be in the 5/6 classroom yesterday teaching a lesson on Gratitude. Sometimes we can get caught up in the things that we don’t have or focus on what we would like. Flipping our mindset to being thankful for what we do have and to appreciate the many wonderful things around us, is a great daily practice. Every night thinking of three things that we are grateful for is a positive way to end a busy day!
Blessings for a great week,
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Thank you to all the families who were able to join us this morning to celebrate our Opening School Mass. All the students read beautifully and were very reverent. During the homily, Fr Joe invited the kindergarten children to sit with him up the front. Fr Joe spoke to the children about the importance of friendship and how we are all a part of God’s family. Thank you Fr Joe for leading us in such a special celebration.
Lent
We have now entered the Church’s season of Lent. Lent is a period of 40 days, that amounts to the time Jesus spent in the desert fasting. It’s a time of preparation to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. During this time we prepare for Easter and focus on spiritual growth.
Parish Mass
St Joseph's will present Mass on Sunday 3rd March at 8.30am. We would love as many families as possible to come and share this Parish Mass. Thank you to Sarah Roche who has offered to make a cake to share with the children afterwards.
If you are able to attend, and would like your child/ren to participate, please email me so I can distribute the readings. (stacey.braun@cg.catholic.edu.au)
St Joseph’s Day
We look forward to celebrating the Feast Day of our school patron, St Joseph with a Mass on Tuesday 19th March at 12:00pm.
Easter Raffle
Our Year 6 leaders will hold an Easter Egg raffle to raise funds for Project Compassion – Caritas. Caritas Australia is the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia.
More information about selling tickets will be in next fortnight's newsletter.
Any donations from families would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator

This year at the Adelong Show, St Joseph's are working with Adelong Public School, on an "Adelong Schools BBQ". It is important for both schools to have a presence at the show, whilst also supporting our local show. The roster is open for families to do a time slot at any stage during the day. We hope this is a better and easier way for everyone to help out on the day.
Help will also be needed on Friday afternoon to take gazebos, tables, BBQs etc to the showground and setup, and again help will be needed to pack up on Sunday morning.
Many hands make light work, and we hope our families can support this wonderful fundraising opportunity for our school, but also an important community event.
The Community Council will also be holding a meeting, open for all families to attend, Wednesday February 28th, 6pm, at school. There are some important items to discuss, and the agenda will be sent out in the next couple of days.
Attached below is a medication authorisation form. This is required to be filled out if your child requires medication to be taken at school. The medication and this form should be taken to the office to be stored correctly and staff will manage the administering of the medication. This form can also be found on our website.
Two vacancies exist for piano lessons at St Joseph's on Wednesdays. One during school hours and one at 3.00pm. The lessons are half hour individual lessons for students in Year 1 and above. If you would like some more information please contact Vanessa Hall for more information on 0448 609 479
Last week 1/2 researched Chinese New Year before building these amazing dragons in Library. They enjoyed learning what this year's zodiac sign is (Dragon) and which one was at the year of their birth. This links back to the story book Year 1 were reading, called Fang Fang's Chinese New Year.

We would like if families could check if some of the areas in your allocated section need whipper snipping eg; around trees, rock/rockeries etc.
Please ensure you have re-filled the fuel tanks on the mower or whipper snipper after you finish and advise the school if we require more fuel. Please also advise the school that you have mowed so we can let the next Family know that it is their turn.
