Last Wednesday, we celebrated our Book Week Parade. Both staff and students had a fantastic time bringing their favourite characters to life with creative costumes. A big thank you to Adelong Preschool for joining us and staying for morning tea, and to Mrs Campbell for organising the parade and afternoon trivia.
We are looking forward to our Father’s Day Lawn Bowls afternoon on Friday 5th September at 12.30pm. Students in Years 3-6 have been learning how to play lawn bowls during sport and are excited to share their skills with dads and special guests. For catering purposes, we kindly ask all families to RSVP to the office using the link sent out via Compass.
Congratulations to Kindergarten who won the class reward for being in full school uniform! Taking pride and wearing the correct uniform has been an important focus across the school, and we thank families for supporting students with this.
Our Kindergarten 2026 Orientation program will commence on Wednesday 3 September at 6:00 pm with our Information Evening.
Orientation sessions will be held this term on:
- Monday 15 September, 9:30 – 11:00 am
- Monday 22 September, 9:30 – 11:00 am
We look forward to welcoming our future Kindergarten students and their families to St Joseph’s.
Blessings for a great week,
Stacey Braun
Acting Principal
Congratulations to our two students on making the Sacrament of Reconciliation last week. It was a beautiful celebration. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact they will have on our school community as they strive to live guided by the principles of love, forgiveness and reconciliation. Thank you to Fr Joe for guiding the students and their families on this special occasion.

Winter Woollies
On Friday 29th August, St Joseph’s will be holding a ‘Winter Woollies Day’ to support the St Vincent De Paul Society’s fundraiser ‘Vinnies Winter Appeal’.
The Vinnies Winter Appeal is all about providing emergency relief to those at risk of/or experiencing homelessness. Vinnies would appreciate donations of ‘Winter Woollies’ such as gloves, socks, jackets, beanies, blankets or sleeping bags. All donations are then distributed through the homelessness and community services to directly support those who are most impacted. If you would like to donate, please send any ‘Winter Woollies’ to the front office by Friday 29th August. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
Students are invited to wear their ‘Winter Woollies’ (dressing gown, pyjamas, jacket, tracksuit pants, jumper, long socks, beanie, scarf etc) to school on Friday 29th August to support the Winter Appeal.
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator

Last Wednesday, we were inundated with amazing characters from all types of literature. As we dived into the adventure that is Book Week, we celebrated with all types of creatures and creations as students danced around the tennis courts. Preschool joined in, with a fantastic array of costumes from the depths of people's imaginations.
In the afternoon, we tested our book smarts with a trivia quiz- covering many types of tales that we have read and studied over the years. The winning team, ably led by Primrose consisted of Chriso, Cody, Emily Matthews, Anna, Roy and Zoey and took home the spoils. We also enjoyed some dance offs and a few rounds of heads and tails.
It was an incredibly fun day- basking in the joy of books and stories and adventures.
Thank you to all the people that attended our parade, purchased from our book fair or sent in the photo for our Book an Adventure display in the Library. If you didn't get a chance to see it, please pop in- it will be up for a while yet.

This afternoon in Drama, students in 3/4 were given the below 'cliff hanger'. They then had to work in small groups to map out the next section of the story before doing some acting before the class!
It was a perfectly normal Tuesday morning at St Joseph’s Primary School… until it wasn’t.
Just as the bell rang for recess, the students raced outside—only to stop in their tracks. The playground was gone. Vanished. No swings, no slide, no monkey bars. Just a patch of grass and a single, mysterious footprint shaped like a giant jellybean.
Miss Russell, the yard duty teacher, gasped. “I knew this day would come,” she whispered, pulling out a glittery notebook labelled Emergency Playground Protocol.
The students gathered around, buzzing with questions. Who—or what—took the playground? Was it aliens? A sneaky underground mole? Or maybe the playground itself had run away?
Just then, a strange sound echoed from the school’s tennis court… a low hum, followed by a giggle.

MacKillop Athletics Championships
Congratulations to Ollie for coming first place in his 100m race at the Archdiocese Athletics Carnival last Thursday. Ollie will now compete at the MacKillop Athletics Championships in September. We wish you all the best Ollie!
eSafety - Are they old enough?
Are they old enough?
Navigating key online milestones with your children can be challenging. Parents and carers play a huge role in guiding their children to use online platforms appropriately. Children often have access to devices such as iphones and ipads at a young age.
4 out of 5 children aged 4 are using the internet and 30% of these children have access to their own device. Half of children have their own device by the age of 12 according to the eSafety Commissioner.
Children might use the device to watch their favourite program through streaming services, use apps to play games or simply be looking at photos. It is important as a parent or carer to supervise your child's online activity initially so there are clear boundaries of what they can and can’t go onto. This will help instil good online habits later on in life. For more information head to Are they old enough? | eSafety Commissioner.
Keep up to date with events happening at St Joseph's via our electronic school calendar (please note dates can be subject to change).
Mass times for Adelong: 8:30am - 1st & 3rd Sunday.
