Welcome to Wk 6. I hope everyone is keeping cool in these extreme temperatures. Another busy week at St Joseph’s with lots of things happening. The children enjoyed their first swimming session yesterday – it is great swimming weather!
I have been talking to the Year five students today about their leadership roles next year. The children over the next couple of days will begin to think about which leadership role they would like to hold in 2020. They will make a poster that will be displayed around the school telling the students a little bit about themselves and why they will make a great leader. The children will then present a speech to all of the students and from that our leaders will be elected into a role. I look forward to working closely with our new leaders in 2020.
We held interviews this week for the two teaching positions that are available at St Joseph’s in 2020. I am really excited about our teaching team next year and will let you know positions and class teachers as soon as positions have been confirmed.
A big thank you to Lara Kirk from the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese who was the organiser and one of the presenters for My Life My Body. This involved all the year 5/6 students and their parents on Tuesday night up at Batlow for an information session together with the 5/6 students and parents from St Mary’s. At St Joseph’s on Wednesday the boys and girls were again separated and participated in a workshop. The senior students were very attentive and engaged and should be congratulated on their mature approach and participation throughout the two sessions.
Have a great week.
Kind Regards,
Kirsty Beavan

Christmas Gifting - Donation of Goods
As part of the St Joseph’s School Christmas spirit, we are asking families to donate an item of non-perishable food or a toy over the next few weeks. This will go to our local St Vincent De Paul who will distribute to those who are less fortunate in our local community.
This term, K,1,2 were learning about dinosaurs and procedures, so they have been busy this week creating board games and writing the instructions to play. During recess and lunch everyone enjoyed playing their games.
In Literacy groups Kindergarten have been creating and writing sentences.
In maths the K,1,2 students have been completing addition and subtraction tasks using the bead strings to show how we can ‘Bridge to ten’.
The Primary Class have been focusing on money this week. Students have been practising finding the total value, finding the best buy and working out the change. Students created their own shopping list, worked out the total cost and then applied different discounts.
Congratulations to our Students of the Week Jack, Eliza, Culley, Lily and Alice. Birthday wishes to Isliah, Archie and Preston. Thank you to our students for presenting classroom work.
Please join us next week Friday 29th November for Assembly at 2:45pm
Students commenced Swimming sessions this week, a lovely week to start with the warm weather. We would like to re-inforce that students MUST HAVE A RASHIE and SUNSCREEN.

(This form can be downloaded and printed to be signed and returned).
