It is an exciting and busy time of the year as we prepare for 2020.
I am very excited that next year our class structure will change and we will move to three classes at St Joseph’s. There will be a K/1 a 2/3/4 and a 5/6, with class sizes all under twenty students which is fantastic. At this point I am unable to say who the class teachers will be as you will appreciate that contracts have not yet been finalised and as soon as they have I will give some more details. With the exciting change comes a little bit of movement. The library will be moved into the small end of what is currently the Primary classroom and the library will be the 2/3/4 classroom.
It is a huge job to move the library (I have done it several times now!) so we are asking for a bit of a hand next Thursday after the bbq lunch. We are hoping we can get some muscle power to move the library shelves (dismantle and put them back together again) and bookcases into the classroom and hopefully move the piano. If there is anyone that can spare some time after the bbq at around 2.30 – 3.30 (it may not even take that long) your help would be greatly appreciated.
The next two weeks are extremely busy so please make sure you are referring to the calendar to be kept in the know!!!
Have a great week.
Kind Regards,
Kirsty Beavan

As part of the St Joseph’s School Christmas spirit, we are asking families to donate an item of non-perishable food or a toy over the next few weeks. This will go to our local St Vincent De Paul who will distribute to those who are less fortunate in our local community.
Our gifting mass will be part of our end of year mass and awards and laundry baskets in the foyer will be part of our end of year mass.
All Library books must be returned by Friday this week. Please give to your classroom teacher or Mrs Parker.
Semester 2 reports will be sent home with students next Friday 13th December. If you would like to discuss your child/rens report, please contact the class teacher to arrange a meeting time.
Students will require some costumes for the end of year play, which will mainly be casual clothing. They will need to bring these items in next Friday 13th Dec and Tuesday 17th Dec for full dress rehearsals.
A note will go home tomorrow with the list of requirements, if you have any queries please don't hesitate to contact the school.

Carols by Candlelight hosted by Adelong Pre-School will be held this Saturday 7th December in Memorial Park, Adelong commencing at 6pm. Students who wish to come along to sing for St Joseph's will need to see Miss Braun at the front of the stage prior to St Joseph's singing time (please refer to program on the night). Please wear your Christmas colours!
Thank you to Will Reynolds who is assisting Miss Braun with the children on Saturday night.
K/1/2 are so excited each day to discover what Jangles our elf has been up during the night. Today we found him covered in Mrs Dean’s stickers!
Congratulations to our Week 7 Students of the Week, Anna, Ainslie, Nicholas and Mitchell. We also had birthday wishes for Charlie, Beau, Ollie and Dallas. Premier's Reading Challenge Certificates were presented to the students that participated earlier in the year. Well done everyone!
Yr 6 Fundraiser last week supported Beyond Blue, thank you to all the students who supported the day by wearing your blue colours and having some fun with face painting and lots of yummy 'blue' morning tea! Thanks to Sydney for the initiative and Seamus for his help, it was a great day.
Gday All
I will be taking on the Tumuts Takes 2 with Lenny Connolly June long weekend 2020 to raise money for our wonderful school!
So far we have a calendar on the go mostly due to the skills of Mrs Baxter, which we are hoping should be available soon! Great gift for family, friends, nostalgic ex-students! (Order forms available from the school).
We are also planning to run a Trivia night on 21st of March 2020 with a bit of karaoke thrown in. This will be the major fundraiser. I am hoping to run a charity auction on the evening. If you have a skill, service or something you would like to donate let us know! Any ideas and offers would be greatly appreciated. Contact Kirsty or myself on 0427464221.
This is a one off opportunity for us to raise some serious funds for our school through the takes 2 organisation so please jump onboard!!
Yours (oh no what have I got myself into!!) Sincerely
- Andrew Reynolds
St Joseph's Staff support Ladies of the Land
This year the staff of St Joseph's have each supported the Ladies of the Land initiative by gifting a pamper gift box. They were delivered to the local delivery point in Tumut who were very grateful.
With the introduction of sunglasses this year generously purchased by the community council for all students, it is time to evaluate. We have now had two terms of wearing them – and I am after some feedback. Coming home tomorrow will be a note asking for your thoughts which will help determine what will happen in 2020 regarding the wearing of sunglasses.
Swans of Tumut have advised the school that they are able to order the girls summer dress. We would suggest that if you are looking at purchasing the summer dress for next year to visit Swans and order the required size prior to the end of the year.
They also have stock of all the other items in our school uniform list.
End of Year Raffle
Thank you to everyone who has been sending in their sold tickets for the end of year raffle. This will be drawn at the end of year play on Tuesday 17th December. Thanks to Lauren & Paul Roche for the generous prize donation of a dressed lamb.
End of Year Mass & Awards BBQ
The CC will be providing a BBQ hamburger lunch after the awards ceremony next Thursday 12th December. Families are welcome to bring an extra salad or a slice to go with tea and coffee. A note will go home tomorrow, to RSVP how many from your family will be staying for lunch so that we can order the right quantity of food as we don’t want to have too many leftovers.
